Full Moon Magic - 33 Ways to Work with the Energy of the Full Moon

It's a powerful and potent time for magic when mamma moon is out in full force!

It's a great time to work some magic, and this post is gonna offer up a few ideas of ways you can harness this power for your own magical, spiritual and energetic uses.

For me the full moon is a great time to connect to my intuition and do some releasing work. as the moon begins to wane I know I'm releasing with her. :)

The full moon can often feel quite heavy to me too, so it's always a time when I need to focus on self-care and being nice to myself.

So let's get into it! Here's 33 ways you can work with the energy of the full moon!

Read your own Tarot or Oracle cards

Invite some friends over and read cards for each other

Alternatively, get on Skype with a witchy friend and read for each other online style!

Write down what you want to release, rip it up and burn it

Light a candle for those you love

Light a candle for those you've lost

Honour your ancestors with incense, candles and chanting or singing

Write a letter to a passed over loved one and burn it to send it off to them (they will be there watching you write it of course anyway!)

Research the Goddesses on Wikipedia and see who's calling you

Call on Archangel Michael to help you clear and heal your fears

Try a cord cutting ritual (grab my Cord-Cutting Kit here!)

Dance

Go outside when it's dark and just sit and absorb the moon's energy

Draw down the moon with a ritual

Look out your window and talk to her like she's a (very, very) very old friend

Do a past life regression or a past life reading

What's up with Psychic Attack?

I was chatting with some peeps on the Spiritual Journey Pitstop group this morning about psychic attack and I found I had so much to say on the topic so I thought I'd put it all in a post for y'all!

Does it actually exist?

Well, like everything in the spiritual world, it’s different for everyone.

I know plenty of people who think psychic attack doesn’t exist, because they have never experienced it and/or give it no attention or power and so are therefore not affected by it.

Kind of like with protecting your energy.

Some people have the belief that they don’t need to protect their energy and so they don’t need to. Other people (like yours truly over here) feel empowered by visualisations of light bubbles, magic cloaks and calling in Archangel Michael for protective vibes. Doesn’t mean we’re giving away our power to the idea we need to be protected, it’s just a different way of working with energy.

If you don’t think psychic attack is real, or it’s never affected you, cool. I’m glad you don’t have to worry about this shiz.

If you think you are being affected by it, or just want to know WTF it is so you can identify it in future, please read on!

(And as always, like everything I talk about, take what resonates, leave the rest.)

What is psychic attack?

If you resonate as an Empath or a HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) or even if you don’t, you'll probably be down with the  idea that we can all pick up on other people’s energy.

Psychic attack is when you’re picking up on negative vibes that have been specifically sent to you.

Why does this happen?

I have found that the closer I get to my purpose, the more on my path that I am, the more connected I become with my spiritual team and the more I put myself out there, the more susceptible I am to psychic attack.

Taylor Swift sums this up better than I can, she says “don’t you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine”. True dat Tay Tay! x

Who’s sending me this shizzle?

Psychic attack can come from many different places. Yes, it can come from ghosts, aliens and other negative or low energy that’s hanging out at your place, or around you, but those situations are pretty rare.

Peeps doing bad juju and woo woo on you is a thing too, but again, not very common really.

Most of the time, psychic attack comes from people you know, or people who’ve seen you online, sending you negative vibes.

I really don’t think most people do this with an intent to “attack” you, it’s just that you might be bringing up a lot of stuff for them, negative stuff, which they then direct at you, instead of opening up to see in themselves what’s going on.

Jealousy, judgement, comparison, the internet is rife with it. If you’re on the internet and you’re sensitive, you’re probably picking it up.

There are some people out there who will go the next step, competitors who dislike all your YouTube videos (yep, I’ve been there!) and people who post hater comments. Those hater comments can be pretty mean, imagine what kind of energy is hanging out behind the mean comments being directed at you.

In real life you have friends who no longer vibe with what you’re doing, think you’ve changed or whatever and so throw energetic shade your way, bitching about you to anyone who will listen. Even our besties can get jealous or pissed off and sometimes the closet to us are the ones that can throw the biggest energetic spit balls.

People who met you once and made some snap judgements on who you were as a person and now every time they see you in their feed they roll their eyes.

Psychic attack can be from one person’s pretty strong energetic shade throwing, or a whole bunch of negativity thrown your way can create a collective cloud of bad woo hanging over your head.

How do I know if I’ve been “attacked”?

The symptoms of psychic attack are different for everyone.

There are loads of blog posts out there with a list of symptoms and while that can be somewhat useful, if you do have physical symptoms that concern you or are having some really dark thoughts that are consuming you, honestly, go and see someone qualified to help you.

When I’ve been psychically attacked, I feel low. Like I don’t want to get out of bed, I have super low energy and no motivation to do stuff, especially work or anything productive.

And it’s usually for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Sometimes it’s grey and rainy, something is going on cosmically or I have other stuff going on in my life and it’s like, OK, that makes sense that I feel a little low. But psychic attack usually turns up when actually, things are going pretty well.

Again, if something is up with your energy levels and it sticks around for longer than a few days, you might want to check in with your doctor.

What can I do about it?

Forgive whoever sent this and send them love

Most people throwing etheric daggers at you are really just transferring their own stuff onto you. People who are happy and doing well in life don’t tend to send bad vibes to other people.

Work with Archangel Michael to remove etheric daggers.

Put on some meditation music, call in the big guy and then visualise him removing any daggers in your back, or anywhere else they have been stuck in. Visualise your energetic skin healing over and be nice and gentle with yourself for a few days afterwards.

Clear your energy

Other ways to clear your energy can include salt baths, smudging, going outside, reiki yourself or grab yourself a reiki, healing or reading session with someone you trust.

Make sure to clear your home and workplace too. A smudge spray can be useful for work!

Look at your own stuff

Sometimes we actually attract negativity because we’ve been sending it out too. Ouch! But seriously, just take a minute to consider where you might be sending negative vibes and set an intention to notice when you're doing that. We are all human, we all do this from time to time, but we can try to be better when we notice we're being jerks.

Protect, ground and clear your own energy every single day.

When you work with your own energy on the daily this kind of stuff just doesn’t happen so much, or when it does, it doesn’t affect you anywhere near as badly. Knowing your own energy can help you realise when stuff just isn’t yours.

Also include your online spaces in your protection rituals!

Light

Turning on some lights, lighting some candles and visualising light filling yourself and your home does wonders.

Sleep with fairy lights on. 

Rest

One of the best ways I know to refill my energetic cup is to just chill the eff out. No scary movies though, K?

Reclaim your power

It can be easy to become kind of obsessed with the idea that bad vibes are being sent to you from all directions and slide down the victim hole a little.

Take some time out to clear and recharge, but remember that you have the power to deflect the negativity that comes your way.

Stand in your power and shout to the sky “you have no power over me!” Or you know, whatever your version of that is. 

It can still take a few days for you to be back to normal, but reminding the universe of your own power is damn effective!

WTF is a Christian Witch?

I have a funny relationship with the word witch. 

I honestly have a funny relationship with all the words that we use to describe who we are.

I mean, how can one word, or label, actually really explain to the whole world what we're about?

I went through a phase of not wanting to use any labels at all. "Don't put me in a box!" I'd scream. But sometimes finding a word, or words to describe who you are and what you're about can be really helpful. When someone asks "what's your spiritual path?" um-ing and ah-ing and responding with something about not doing labels doesn't really help anyone know what you're about, and when you run your own spiritual business it's kind of useful for people to know what you're about pretty quickly.

Having said all that, if you think labels are stupid and don't want one, that's cool too.

I resonate with a lot of different labels. Lightworker is one I use a lot because it's super vague, but kind of sums up what I do. I try to be a good person and help other people, to me that's what a Lightworker is. I call on Angels and work with lots of "light" energies, so it makes sense to call myself that. 

I also really like the term #LightWitch because the magic I make is all totally from the light baby! No hexing or negative magic here!

Lots of people dislike the term because they think Lightworkers ignore their shadow side, urgh, so not true though. You can't do Lightwork without doing shadow work my friends. When you really work with the Light OMG it lights up EVERYTHING! 

Another hashtag I use around the place is #ChristianWitch

So what's all that about huh? 

First off, a Christian Witch is something totally different to everyone who calls themselves one. So what I'm about to say, is just about my path. What you do as a Christian Witch might be totally different and that's awesome.

In my teens I discovered new age spirituality, Wicca and Witchcraft. It was AWESOME! Honestly, it kind of freaked me out, but I was totally into it.

I used to sit in my bedroom with my glitter nail polish covered kitchen knife athame and cast circles. 

A few years later I found myself running with a Christian crowd. They were an awesome bunch of people, some of them definitely soul family. We went to Bible study, put Cheezles out at youth group and I eventually ended up in the music ministry team singing my heart out for Jesus on the stage every Sunday.

Yep. 

I loved it. I even started looking into theology colleges and had some mad ideas about being a pastor of my own church.

Yep.

I loved the community, I honestly loved how I felt when I was in the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I mean, woah, talk about stuff coming up to the surface to be cleared!

There was a lot of stuff that didn't totally resonate with me though. Clearly, that's why I'm here talking about Christian Witches.

I didn't love the dogma, the patriarchal structure of the church, the stuff about everyone else being wrong.

That just didn't vibe.

I kept talking to Jesus for a while, and then I just started talking to God.

My spiritual path lay dormant for a good few years until I moved to London and had a ghost in my flat. A proper full on, OMG there is stuff moving around my room at night, someone knocking on my door when no one is there, why do I always feel like I'm being watched, books falling of the shelves kind of ghost.

I went to Shepherd's Bush market and bought a whole bunch of Hoodoo candles, a rosary, a cross that I didn't take off for a good solid six months, a picture of Jesus for the wall and I went wild. I called on angels, I talked to the ghost, I contacted mediums, I was baaaaack!

I can only imagine what my new housemates thought of me with Jesus and rosaries hanging on the wall and white sage smoke bellowing out from under the door.

It just made sense for me to do it all. 

I do witchy things. But I do them with Jesus and Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene by my side.

I read the bible sometimes, but I think mostly it's a really old book that's been translated too many times to be that accurate.

I call on the Christ Consciousness to help me be a better person, more Christ-like, nicer to people, less of a dick.

I do candle magic and spells with herbs, oils and petitions, but I call it "making prayer candles".

I make potions and call them "magic mists".

I call on the Holy Spirit to clear my energy.

I call on Gaia to ground me.

I bow down to ancient standing stones.

I call on the Saints and Angels for different purposes, but I also call on Lakshmi and Ganesha and Saint Brigid and the Ancestors and Star Ancestors.

I draw a pentagram on my door each night before I go to sleep for protection.

I call on Saint Christopher whenever I travel.

I walk through the woods and make offerings to trees and the Fae.

I read Tarot.

I work with the cycles of the moon for manifestation.

I wear a Saint Michael pendant for protection with a black onyx heart.

I'm basically a spiritual hot mess.

But aren't we all?

Being a Christian Witch is about calling it all in from wherever it comes from and feeling the connection to both sides of the fence. 

It's a tough one to navigate. Christians and Witches haven't always had a great relationship. I feel like I'm clearing the karma on that one prayer candle/spell at a time.

I know there's gonna be people out there who aren't gonna vibe with what I'm doing, to you I say go forth and find your own strange and wonderful spiritual path!

In times passed I would have been in a lot of trouble for saying "Christian Witch" like it's a thing.

And you know, it's still only a small part of who I am and what I'm about.

I'm a Christian Witch.

I'm a Witch.

I'm an Eclectic Witch

I'm a Lightworker.

I'm a Light Witch.

I'm Spiritual.

I'm a Starseed.

I'm an Earth Angel.

I'm a Hufflepuff.

How to program crystals

There is sooo much info on the internet about charging and programming crystals and I really just don't think it needs to be that hard.

I'm a big believer that intention is everything.

No matter what you're doing, whether it's working with crystals, calling in Angels and Guides, Manifesting some magic or whatever.

Your intention is way more powerful than which hand you use, what phrase you say and how many times you walk backwards around your favourite tree (I like three, but it really doesn't matter).

So when you're working with crystals it's the same deal.

Now of course, big disclaimer here, as always, you have to do what works for you.

If you really feel like you need to walk backwards around a tree four times and you think I'm crazy for only doing it three times, hey, go ahead and do what you need to do.

Personally I don't think you don't really need to program your crystals at all.

Ha, bet you thought this was going to be a post full of rituals and how-to's! :D

If you go to the crystal shop to buy some rose quartz you don't have to get it home and tell it that you want it to help you with your romantic situ and self-love stuff. That's kind of like telling your new jeans to cover your butt.

When a crystal comes into my life it usually knows exactly what I need and just starts doing it. 

Whether I've been gifted it, picked it up in a shop or searched painstakingly on Etsy for the perfect piece. As soon as it's mine, it's mine, and it's ready to do what it needs to do for me in my life.

I do always clear my crystals when I get them though. 

Depending on what I feel I need to do with them when I get them, I will either pop them on my bookshelf, altar, desk or in with some other crystals to sort of welcome them into the family. I like to give them a chance to get used to my energy before I expect too much from them. I like to do this with Tarot decks too. Just let them settle in. Some crystals will settle in within minutes, others will take some time.

Now there are plenty of times when you might want to program your crystal for something really specific, and that's pretty much the only time I program my crystals.

If I'm making a crystal grid for prosperity for example, I will get my citrine out and with intention, spoken out loud or in my mind, I'll start creating my grid. Learn how to make crystal grids with me here!

If I'm going out into London on the weekend (which can be cray energetically!) I'll seek out my protective crystals and put them on with the intention that they are for protecting my energy for the day. 

That's it.

Honestly, it doesn't have to be any harder than that!

New Moon Magic - 33 ways to work with the energy of the new moon

New moon energy is powerful shiz!

I like working with the Full Moon for releasing, exploring my stuff, doing some deep work and big magic. On the New Moon though, I’m more about taking stock, setting goals and putting it out there.

Everyone works with moon energy differently, so it's really important for you to find what works best for you.

I'm just sharing with you here some of the stuff that works for me. 

Personally, I always wait until after the New Moon has hit before I start using it’s magic (although I start to think about my intentions earlier!), as I feel that it’s much more powerful.

I go with the three days after rule that says you can work with the new moon energy for up to three days after the moon is new. 

So if I miss the new moon, I don’t freak out, I just do my new moon-y stuff the next day. :D But you can work with the New Moon however it feels best to you.

There's no reason at all why you can't use this list anytime you're wanting to call something in.

Change your phone screensaver to something relating to your manifestations

Make a playlist that goes with your intentions and listen to it every day until the Full Moon

Ask for an abundance of love, happiness, health and prosperity for those you love

Ask for abundance for people you find challenging

Clear out your solar plexus chakra

Clear out all your chakras!

Take a bath with some citrine, essential oils and some chamomile flowers

Work on some of your abundance and money blocks through journaling and card slinging

Write an abundance check

The Secret to connecting with your guidance + intuition

There is so much info out in the world right now about how to connect with your intuition, your higher self, your spirit guides and angels. And a lot of it is seriously awesomesauce... 

But what if all those meet your guides and third eye meditations just don't seem to work for you? 

I tried all those things for a long time and didn't really get that far with them. I did have awesome moments of clarity, feelings of being absolutely guided in a certain direction and some major epiphanies, but these were pretty few and far between.

So how did I get from floundering around the spiritual realms to running a spiritual biz, being able to clairvoyantly see people's past lives and spirit guides?

I started working with my own energy.

I'd been working in a pretty challenging job situation with a lot of negativity and other people's energy flying out in a gazillion directions for quite a few years and it was making me miserable.

When I began to understand that I was a HSP or an Empath and was picking up on and absorbing everything around me, everything changed.

Energy centred = guidance flowing! (The beach helps too) x

Being conscious of what was mine and what was not mine was MEGA. It's like carrying around a massive bag on your back for years and then one day actually noticing what's in that bag and realising it's not even your stuff!

Sidenote: I actually think we are all empaths. Some of us numb it or ignore it, some of us embrace it. No path is "right", only what is right for you and your journey.

Energetic protection has been my rock on my spiritual path. Protecting my energy so I wasn't taking on "stuff" from all over started to make it really clear what was actually mine.

I began working with my own energy in different ways - protecting, clearing (because sometimes you do take on stuff, even when you're super protected), grounding, hanging out with the chakra system.

And then guess what happened? Yep, that third eye just freaking opened and My guides and angels just started popping in for tea.

I didn't have to do anything. Of course, I'm still human. I still have times when I struggle to connect, to know what to do next, or work out which path to take, but when this happens, I go back to basics.
